| Winter | [center]Dreamtime Revelations Winter shifted, sighed softly in her sleep where she lay curled in her lover’s arms and fell deeper and deeper into a state of sleep where her awareness expanded and became more aware of things both natural and supernatural. Her subconscious mind feeling the slight tug on her inner Self via a tiny thread of magic spun between her and the Sword that was in her keeping. She frowned a little in her sleep and turned her attention towards it. Answer rarely tugged on her awareness from where it lay in state, hidden in it’s own little pocket of reality. Knowing the Sword was temperamental at best, she sent her awareness slipping down the thread that bound her to it, forged by her own will and magic akin to that which went into its second forging. Soon enough she could hear it’s grumbling and muttering as it talked to itself. Never quiet was Answer, and that was one reason that it was where it was and not near to her. Not her duty to wield it as Archangel and so it stayed hidden, and only twice had it been used in all the time that she had held it in trust. Nay, that duty lay with one who had fallen in battle as he was meant to. Thinking of him sent a twinge of sadness through her heart as she remembered him, pierced through and bleeding his life away there in the labyrinthine halls of Raziel’s library. Slowly, as she grew closer to where the great blade was hidden away, her body took form and then walls and tunnel floor formed about her of sandstone, slightly gritty to her bare feet and with a thought she clothed her body in a long flowing robe of darkest green. Walking on, the walls gradually became more sculpted, more refined… the floor smoother to her feet as she walked through the twisting and branching tunnel until it opened up into a grand chamber-like cavern. She paused in the entryway and admired this place she had made her own. The high vaulted ceiling which had been partially collapsed in the middle which allowed sunlight or moonlight to stream down into it, the lush plants that were gathered around that opening, the moss hanging down into the cavern along with a few tree roots here and there. The plants that flourished along the edges of the cavern… and then moved her gaze towards the center of the area that she had made into a ritual area. All was as it should be, her tools undisturbed, magical wards and protections untouched and just as she had left them. Answer gleamed in the starlight as it caught on the hilt and crosspieces of the guard, clearly untouched… Here it’s voice was louder and she could hear it crooning to itself from where she stood, and there was a new tone to it’s voice. Almost as if it was happy and expectant, if such a thing could be said about a sword… especially one like this one, but then again, Divine metal wasn’t meant to be reforged with Sidhe Magic. She brushed a strand of scarlet hair back from her face, tucking it behind one delicate ear before pacing into the chamber and over towards where Answer rested in it’s stand in a place of honor near the altar in the center of the cavern. The closer she came, the clearer the words became and as she stopped beside the sword and knelt to look at it, she realized that it was singing to itself and it was a song of joy and readiness. She brushed her hands along it’s scabbarded length and where they touched, a silvery fire took form about it and slowly encompassed the entire sheathed blade with the solas sidhe, the faerie fire. Winter sat back on her heels and thought a long time, and the only thing that she could think would cause such a reaction in the blade, was if it’s true bearer had returned from his slumber and she determined that she would have to seek his barrowing place when she woke to find the truth of the matter. But, even so, a small hope began to grow in her that he had indeed returned. They had been friends such a short amount of time before his murder by Michael and that traitorous Gabriel… With a sigh she gracefully rose and caressed the hilt one last time, silently promising the blade that if it’s master was alive once more it would soon be in his hands. Then, humming happily, she sent her awareness arrowing back to her body and let it fade into the depths of sleep while her body curled up against the warmth of her lover. [/center] | 02/19/09 18:08 |
