TheassassinI thought people most had common sense enough to not act out like children, but i guess i was asking too much, here let me say this;
I belong to a small faction, we dont have alot of members, but we do well, and are effective. Our RP is top notch, we rp with a few, but not many, and not by choice
I was told today, by another player that they wanted to RP with us, but the, " Others" said if you do nobody will talk to you.
WOW, like i said before is this high school?, better er junior high?, i thought we grrew out of that click, cool kid crap then!, it amazes me how people react that way when you do your own thing, and your not a Hoe for the cool crowd, that's how i see it, be yourself, fuck all the bullshit, Never Blend in. Alot of so called rebels here but they all follow suit and click up , and point fingers. I like cola, but this shit is wild who else sees the crap im talking about, and isnt afraid to saysomething, because it 's not, "cool" to do so?		10/24/09 12:49

Hard to say who's trolling here. In any case, CoLA has an extensive staff and at any time of day you can contact one, not to mention leave a NC with any of us, if this is happening to you I'd suggest taking the mature road and contacting a staff member.		10/24/09 14:32

Additionally, regarding cliques. . .yes. CoLA is like high school sometimes. Thing is, so is every other damn place on and off the web. There are always the proverbial "cool kids." There are always those who follow without thought. There are always those willing to cut people off from any kind of social satisfaction for the pettiest of reasons. It's human nature at its most base and frustrating.

If people are acting that way, you have the option of ignoring them. People who aren't going to RP with you based on your group--when it's only because your group is small, and not for any material reason--probably aren't worth RPing with.		10/24/09 14:43

Second Life, and CoLA, are a lot like High School. It's unfortunate, but it's nothing we can change unless someone develops a way to brainwash people. Amy GuisseThe world always has been like highschool or more properly, highschool is like the world. You have your authoritative figures, your upper, middle and lower class. In the end, it's just a contained sub culture of the world. I don't see what the big deal is here. Okay, yeah, people are rude, obnoxious, disrespectful and in no way know how to express themselves in a productive manner but I don't see how that's life. KahraIt seems as though this applies to the unaffiliated, too. As a new player, I've tried starting RP, but I generally get told to leave the area, as it's affiliated to one group or another. As a veteran of RP in general, I understand the wariness towards new RPers, but new RPers generally get a chance, first.11/20/09 15:41
LuciSJust know that for every person who won't RP with you, there is someone who will. Like me and mine, we are a smaller, but not small, faction. But part of our OOC purpose/goal is to help newer rpers learn to rp. We invite anyone and everyone to come and rp with us, doesn't mean you have to join us/ like us/ or whatev. Just gives people the chance to develop their characters, rp a bit of their backstory, and have some kind of connection to CoLA/Damnation. We are the 'good guys' in a Bad Guy run world..... so we are used to the "you don't like the fact I like to rape, so I want to kill you." kind of RP. Wanna be a bad guy, come rp with us. Wanna be a good guy, come rp with us. Wanna flirt and see if you can get lucky..... hit me up. I will test your skills before releasing you to the rest of the RP world. :P11/20/09 15:55

Almost all of the time when people tell you to leave, they're being IC. In fact unless you're in a private rented apartment, if they tell you to leave OOCly (and you're not being an ass OOCly) it's probably time to call a GM. As a lycan in the Pack, my character is territorial - sometimes he'll tell people to fuck off our of his (or the Pack's) territory or he'll eat them, or something similar. That doesn't mean I'm asking you to leave, that's actually me RPing with you. Leaving the area isn't the only option you have open to you, you could try getting around it somehow, trying to convince me, fight me, or maybe something else I haven't thought of.		11/20/09 16:48

I think too many people are afraid of:

a) It ending up in a CCS fight.

Well, point A is a result of conditioning. Many of us (yeah, I've been guilty of working or being generally lazy and not feeling much like rping) don't much feel like paying every person in the area the attention they may or may not merit from us... all of the time. As a result, we employ a variety of ways to get you the fuck away from us. I've found it generally effective to be short with people (ICly) and let them know their presence isn't appreciated. Usually, it works. If it doesn't work, and they respond in kind, I've probably met my new best friend and whatever I was doing to cause me to brush this person aside now gets placed on the back burner.

On the other hand, there are people that will simply CCS other players (especially ones they know can't retaliate) if they don't do exactly what's demanded of them. It happens too often. I'm fine with lazy, as I'm all manner of it, but that kind of laziness is detrimental to the CoLA community, as well as other CCS communities. And to isolate ourselves- as well as isolating new faces to the community by greeting them with a 'quality' CCS experience- makes us part of the problem. Are we happy when someone gives our roleplay zero regard and are quashed with a smattering of CCS skills, or do we not worry about that because of ungodly levels? Nobody likes to be ignored... worse yet, bullied. But we've conditioned people to accept that they may as well not interact with certain factions because their entertainment value is the first victim as a result of their doing so. How do we fix this? Treat others the way we'd like to be treated in our roleplay community. Don't be so inconsiderate OOCly as to choose the point and click solution to people you don't feel like playing with.

As for point B. There's plenty of sick fucks out there that love that shit. And by 'sick fucks' I mean 'Hi, I'm Mal.'


Anur, it's a damn shame that anyone feels that way about your faction. I've had limited interaction with y'all myself, but the times I've gotten to roleplay with any of your members I haven't been disappointed.		11/20/09 18:09
Envy187From personal experience the only time i haven't RP'd is when i was too lazy to and i don't mean that i will ignore people in fact it was usually the opposite i was just too lazy to go out and lookm for RP i've yet to witness a flat out refusal to RP from anyone anywhere even if someone is ignoring you IC it doesnt neccisarily mean they are refusing to RP with you ooc,i have been wrong before though, my suggestion would be if people refuse to RP with you change the sim in which you RP.

As for Macca's pointI see that a lot being in the pack myself, when we tell you to jog on or get the hell of our couch that doesnt always mean leave the the area or we're gonna cut your dangly bits off, hell Maes the other day fought one of the pack for the porno stand it made me laugh and was good RP.		11/20/09 18:50
RaelynHum- if you're too lazy to RP shouldn't you turn your meter off? I see a lot of people who are too lazy to RP that have their meters running. If you're not going to engage in active RP, meters need to be off as the rules state.

Not that I care- but it'll help others from walking up to someone with an active meter, trying to start an RP, and that person is just too lazy to RP and shooting them down. Then hurt feelings are everywhere.

It honestly takes three seconds to /9 off the meter. I don't approach people who are noncom, regardless if they are speaking OOCly in local.

MissyI RP with everyone. That said, if there are a large number of people in the scene or on the street, it can be really hard to respond to EVERYONE. So while I'll participate in one part of a side conversation; keep tabs on what other characters are saying as well, and I tend to choose to engage with one or two or three people at a time, I'll let someone else take the RP bait for the next person who comes into the scene.

I do try to watch out for new people.. to include them in the scene so they don't feel excluded. Again though, this is wayyyy easier to do when there are a limited number of people around. Plus, if a good friend or an arch enemy walks up to Missy and starts to talk with her, a new person just automatically is going to get less of my attention because they likely as not are not an integral part of my IC story yet. Not like the veteran who has walked up. If it's a friend that has and it's a lighter RP, then it's a perfect opportunity for me to introduce the new person and expand their IC range of contacts. If it's an enemy, Missy likely wouldn't intro them, just as a knee-jerk reaction to protect them from the ebil one.

It's sort of an inside joke.. haha..

In the baby photos thread I burned Macca with a blow torch of a smartass remark (it's OK.. I'm allowed.. just ask him, hahah) and I was Rae's hero only to get dethroned in the shout box about 5 minutes later when I turned the blow torch on her.
